What to Wear
Maternity Session
Your maternity session is a celebration of softness, strength, and this fleeting season of waiting. At Moon and Mango, we focus on natural connection, gentle movement, and imagery that feels warm, elevated, and timeless. What you wear plays a beautiful supporting role—never the focus, always enhancing the story.
Comfort Is Everything
.
When you feel at ease, your photos feel effortless. - Choose pieces that allow you to move, sit, and breathe comfortably - Avoid anything itchy, overly tight, or restrictive - Try your outfit on ahead of time and move around in it

Silhouettes We Love for Maternity
.
These styles photograph beautifully and highlight your bump in a natural way: - Fitted dresses that gently hug the belly - Empire waist or wrap dresses - Flowy gowns with soft movement - Off-the-shoulder or one- shoulder styles - Open-front layers (robes, kimonos, cardigans)
There are no strict rules—if you feel beautiful in it, it will translate on camera.
Color Palette Fabrics + Texture
.
We gravitate toward warm, earthy, and neutral tones that feel timeless and organic.
Moon and Mango–approved colors: - Cream, ivory, soft beige - Blush, dusty rose, muted mauve - Sage, olive, soft eucalyptus - Warm browns, rust, terracotta - Soft black or charcoal
Please avoid: neon colors, bold graphics, large logos, or high-contrast patterns
Texture adds depth and softness to your images. - Linen, cotton, chiffon, tulle - Ribbed knits, lace, subtle ruching - Avoid stiff, shiny, or heavy fabrics that wrinkle easily
Undergarments
& Fit
.
The right foundation makes all the difference. - Nude or seamless underwear works best - Strapless or supportive bras for off-shoulder styles - Smoothing shorts are helpful for fitted dresses (optional)
Shoes (or Barefoot)
.
Footwear is often optional in our sessions. - Barefoot is always welcome and photographs beautifully - Neutral sandals, flats, or low heels work well - Skip athletic shoes unless intentionally styled
Coordinating With a Partner or Family
.
Let mom’s outfit lead the color story. - Stick to a shared neutral or earthy palette - Mix textures rather than patterns - Avoid everyone wearing the same color
Hair, Makeup & Finishing Touches
• Soft waves or natural textures photograph best
• Polished, natural makeup that still feels like you
• Neutral nails or clean hands
• Simple, delicate jewelry over statement pieces
If possible, bring 2–3 outfit options (fitted and flowy, light and dark). We’re always happy to help choose what photographs best.
This session isn’t about perfection, it’s about honoring your body, your story, and the quiet beauty of this season.
